Pharrell Williams Is The First Male To Appear In Chanel Handbag Campaign Ad

While, Pharrell Williams isn’t new to the popular fashion brand, Chanel, having appeared in ads and walked in shows for the brand. However, the super music producer and singer has solidified his place in history as the first male to have graced a campaign film ad for the French House.

The French fashion house has dubbed 2017 the year of Gabrielle and has chosen to use Pharrell as its muse, in which Karl Lagerfeld told WWD that, Williams is a “fitting choice for the role.” In the film, Williams enters into what appears to be a backstage as he is looking for everyone while donning the black Gabrielle handbag. The “Happy” singer begins to play around on the equipment until a young boy appears with “Gabrielle” written on his hand before suddenly vanishing.

In the behind-the-scenes video, Pharrell says that he feels like he is playing himself as he describes his character in the film as a guy that is really into Chanel. He also says that he is Honored to be a part of something celebrating Gabrielle ‘Coco’ Chanel.
