Last week it was reported that Jay-Z and Beyonce lost their battle with the U.S. Paten and Trademark Office after nine months of legality. The case was against a wedding event company named Blue Ivy Events based in Boston over the trademark name “Blue Ivy”. Beyonce and Jay-Z planned on starting Blue Ivy’s legacy right away. After her birth the power couple decided they wanted to trademark their daughter’s name to create a clothing line and a line of baby products. They’ve clearly had a struggle making this happen due to the fact Veronica Alexandria, the owner of Blue Ivy Events was granted trademark protection over the name “Blue Ivy”, but Jay and B still might be able to make it happen.
Apparently their application to have Blue Ivy’s name trade marked as a product has not been thrown out,but put on hold.(via the Washington Post) The circumstances may not effect Beyonce and Jay-Z’s case because the two parties are in completely different fields. Veronica Alexandria said she is a fan of the entertainers and she is definitely riding the wave of this case and probably enjoying it.
“I can’t be frustrated with something I think is going to bring me to produce and define my brand even more.” Alexandria adds “If Beyonce and Jay-Z want to buy me out I’d welcome that.”
I bet you would! It looks like Jay-Z,Beyonce,and Blue Ivy are going to make it happen regardless.
